Course Description:

This course explored and compared the practical application of play-centered therapy in the telehealth and traditional therapy setting. It described effective strategies for parent coaching, the selection of engaging therapy materials, and the mastery of treatment goals. This course focused on using play as intervention for children aged 1-8 with a range of speech and language disorders

  • Explain the importance of obtaining parent engagement and support within the therapy session

Christine Thompson, M.A, CCC-SLP

Christine Thompson, M.A. CCC-SLP, is the founder and director of Play, Talk & Grow, an educational website for parents of children with speech and language delays. She has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for 16 years. She began practicing in Seattle, WA for the first 14 years of her career and relocated to Asheville, NC in 2018. In addition to operating Play,Talk &Grow, Christine provides speech therapy to children in the Asheville area through early intervention as well as clinic and home based therapy.

This course is applicable to providers working with young children ages 1-8 with a variety of speech and language disorders.

Refund Policy for LIVE courses:

If program is cancelled or rescheduled by our organization:

TheraSmart reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to extenuating circumstances, inclement weather, speaker availability, or insufficient registration. You will be notified via email or phone at least 24 hours before the start of the class. Participants will be offered an opportunity to reschedule or a full refund for registration and course fee(s) will be issued to registrants (not to include travel or other costs). TheraSmart liability is limited to the tuition fee only.

If registrant cancels:

A full refund, less a 25% administrative fee will be provided if your refund request is received in writing (by mail or email) at least 14 days prior to the course start date. No refunds will be made after the 14 day deadline. Tuition will be forfeited for no-show or cancellations.

Complaint Policy:

We do our best to address your concerns. Any complaints or grievances must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Please include the name, address, phone number, email, profession of person submitting the complaint or grievance, the title of the CE course, as well as the exact nature of the complaint/grievance. The CEA (continuing education administrator) will make an effort to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the complainant. This may include issuance of a credit for another CE course or other action suitable to all parties.
