Course Description:

This course taught multi-sensory treatment strategies for the remediation of articulation, language, and pragmatic deficits in the tele-practice setting. This course explored the challenges clinicians face when providing online therapy services and presented strategies to improve client outcomes by engaging parents and caregivers in the therapeutic process.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Integrate a multi-sensory treatment approach into telepractice.

  • Describe 3 strategies to improve listening and reading comprehension skills.

  • Utilize children’s literature and active listening to improve social-emotional and conversational skills.

Time-Ordered Agenda

  • Understanding challenges and advantages of tele-therapy delivery model (10 min)

  • Implementing a multi-sensory approach into articulation treatment (25 minutes)

  • Implementing a multi-sensory approach improve listening and reading comprehension (25 minutes)

  • Implementing a multi-sensory approach to improve social skills (25 minutes)

  • Structuring the session to maximize success ( 5 minutes)

Presenter Biography:

Shifra Sharfman, M.A, CCC-SLP

Shifra Sharfman, M.A. CCC-SLP, is the founder and director of Communication Consultants, a pediatric speech and language therapy group located in Miami, Florida. She has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for 30 years. She attended Queens College for undergraduate and graduate programs. Her practice services children in the areas of articulation, language development, auditory processing, social skills, voice, and fluency. She has worked as an adjunct professor in Touro College teaching the Basis of Phonetics among other courses.

Satisfactory completion of the course and the earning of credit is based on your full attendance at this LIVE online webinar, completing a brief learning self-assessment and program evaluation form and requesting a certificate of completion from [email protected]. This course is applicable to professionals and parents working with students age 3-young adult with mild or moderate disabilities in the area of articulation, language, or pragmatics.

Refund Policy for LIVE courses:

If program is cancelled or rescheduled by our organization:

TheraSmart reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to extenuating circumstances, inclement weather, speaker availability, or insufficient registration. You will be notified via email or phone at least 24 hours before the start of the class. Participants will be offered an opportunity to reschedule or a full refund for registration and course fee(s) will be issued to registrants (not to include travel or other costs). TheraSmart liability is limited to the tuition fee only.

If registrant cancels:

A full refund, less a 25% administrative fee will be provided if your refund request is received in writing (by mail or email) at least 14 days prior to the course start date. No refunds will be made after the 14 day deadline. Tuition will be forfeited for no-show or cancellations.

Complaint Policy:

We do our best to address your concerns. Any complaints or grievances must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Please include the name, address, phone number, email, profession of person submitting the complaint or grievance, the title of the CE course, as well as the exact nature of the complaint/grievance. The CEA (continuing education administrator) will make an effort to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the complainant. This may include issuance of a credit for another CE course or other action suitable to all parties.
