Course Description:

In this course participants will learn about the principles of applied behavior analysis, tips for providing collaborative services and how to help autistic toddlers/ preschool aged students start communicating.

Target Audience:

SEITs, SLPs, Parents and other preschool providers working with students ages 3-5.

Course Level:

Intermediate; Assumes participants’ general familiarity with the literature and professional practice in the topic area of autism. The activity focuses on updating participants’ knowledge, increasing their understanding of concepts and applications, and promoting evidence-based practice.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will explain how ABA can help students improve their communication skills.

  • Participants will list 5 strategies for providing collaborative services.

  • Participants will apply 5 foundational skills to help young autistic students start communicating.

  • 9:00-9:10: Introduction

Presenter Biography:

Rosemarie Griffin, MA, CCC/SLP BCBA, is an ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Podcast Host, and Product Developer. She divides her time between a public school and her own private practice - ABA SPEECH. She is passionate about helping individuals with autism find their voice and become more independent communicators. Rose loves sharing information through her weekly podcast - Autism Outreach and is also an invited speaker at the local and national levels.

Course Completion Requirements:

For 0.3 ASHA CEUs

Satisfactory completion of the course and the earning of credit is based on attending the entire live webinar, completing a learning assessment and course rating form, and your timely submission of information as required by ASHA. Partial credit will not be offered for this course.

Refund Policy for LIVE courses:

If program is cancelled or rescheduled by our organization:

TheraSmart reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course due to extenuating circumstances, inclement weather, speaker availability, or insufficient registration. You will be notified via email or phone at least 24 hours before the start of the class. Participants will be offered an opportunity to reschedule or a full refund for registration and course fee(s) will be issued to registrants (not to include travel or other costs). TheraSmart liability is limited to the tuition fee only.

If registrant cancels:

A full refund, less a 25% administrative fee will be provided if your refund request is received in writing (by mail or email) at least 14 days prior to the course start date. No refunds will be made after the 14 day deadline. Tuition will be forfeited for no-show or cancellations.

Complaint Policy:

We do our best to address your concerns. Any complaints or grievances must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Please include the name, address, phone number, email, profession of person submitting the complaint or grievance, the title of the CE course, as well as the exact nature of the complaint/grievance. The CEA (continuing education administrator) will make an effort to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the complainant. This may include issuance of a credit for another CE course or other action suitable to all parties.
